Today co-host Savannah Guthrie is engaged to boyfriend of four years Michael Feldman, the morning host announced on her show Monday.

Feldman, 44, proposed to the 41-year-old over Mother's Day weekend. After flashing her new ring on camera, Guthrie also said that Feldman - a political and communications advisor, noted that after four years of dating, no one could say they rushed into marriage.

"Our families basically have been in-laws for years," she said. "They've just been waiting for us to catch up. I'm really happy. We're really excited..I was wearing this ring hoping one of my colleagues might notice. But no one noticed!"

Her anchor, Matt Lauer, said upon the announcement, "Good for you and congratulations to Mr. Feldman. He's a great guy."

Guthrie, who was married once before, from 2005 to 2009 to BBC News TV producer Mark Orchard, said her wedding will not be broadcast on the show. Feldman as a former aide to Al Gore and heads up a communications advisory firm based in Washington, D.C. and New York, according to Daily Mail. 

In a 2012 interview with Vogue, Guthrie spoke out about her desire for a family following her divorce.

"I imagine people might look at me and think "Oh, she has been single-mindedly working on her career all these years and those family issues have fallen by the wayside,' but that is absolutely not the case," she said. "I would never put my job before my family. I have all the same hopes that most women have. I want to get married and have kids; it just hasn't happened."
