November started about a week ago and Halloween has just recently ended. Next comes Christmas that brings lots of cheers for everyone, which means new clothes, new accessories and new gadgets and devices. But now is the season to beware of the fake iPhones app currently offered online.

People have entered a digital age where they have automated their lives or condensed it onto their phones and tablets. During holiday season it is only natural for consumers to do a tad bit of shopping online for their friends and family.

However, because of this a lot of fake iPhone applications have showed up. The entire Internet is talking about the sudden upcoming of a number of fake applications that are trying to score some extra pocket money this holiday season.

The applications are not necessarily a scam, despite being fake. They are third-party sellers who try to paraphrase on the names and logos of famous brands to get their products across, albeit being generally harmless. It is a simple act of deception to an untrained eye just so the makers can gain lots of downloads.

A quick example of this comes from The New York Times, where they showed an app called Foot Locker being impersonated by many apps called "Footlocke" popping up right below the original in the search menu.

Foot Locker originally owns only three iPhone applications yet the search popped up more than 10 different applications when the company was searched.

Even MSN is uploading videos regarding the shoppers to be careful this season to be not fooled by these fake applications.

There were also comments added about how reliable brands should also be concerned about their names and should constantly check if they are being stolen.

Granted that a lot of them are harmless and the worse they can do is sell someone bad quality merchandise while impersonating some famous company. However, that does not reduce the chance of an actual scam being taken place here.

One could never know how easily their information can be stolen and used against them.
