O.J. Simpson returned to a Las Vegas courtroom on Wednesday for a evidentiary hearing he requested in a bid to request a new trial.

Accoring to a petiton filed by his new attorneys, another trial might help the fallen athlete overturn his 2008 convictions. The live court session can be watched online via the free live stream below, which began at 8 a.m. PST/11 a.m. EST on May 15.

Simpson, 65, is ultimately seeking a plea deal in a new trial for the armed robbery, assault and kidnapping charges he acquired from a sports memorabilia deal that went wrong. Simpson is expected to take the stand in the Las Vegas courtroom before Judge Linda Marie Bell on Wednesday. He will argue that his former attorney, Yale Galatner, gave him bad legal advice for the 2007 incident that led to his arrest and conviction.

"Simpson also contends that Galanter did not advise Simpson that carrying out the plan could subject him to criminal charges, regardless of the ownership of the property," Simpson's new lawyers wrote in a petition when requesting the new trial, according to CNN.

The petition also stated that Galanter prevented Simpson from testifying at his own trial.

"There was no evidence presented to adequately challenge the state's evidence of criminal intent and knowledge of the guns or the bad character evidence to which the jury was exposed," the appeal reads.

Simpson's daughter, Arnell Simpson, testified on Monday. She said she had dinner with her father and Galanter the night before the incident occurred at the Palace Station hotel, and that she was not advised before she testified at the first Las Vegas trial.

O.J. is currently serving time for a nine-to 33 year sentence for making threats, using guns and assault for taking back his memorabilia items from two dealers. He is not eligible for parole for at least five years and has already spent four years in jail.
