Will Smith is not quite ready to give his oldest child full independence.

The elder Smith recently stated in an interview with Britain's The Sun that his 14-year-old son Jaden had asked for emancipation for his 15th birthday. However, both father and son state that this is not what they want.

"No emancipation for the Smith kids," Smith stated on The Ellen DeGeneres Show Wednesday.

Smith had laughingly claimed his son wanted emancipation due to wanting a house. Smith's original statements indicate that he wouldn't allow this at this point.

"On the other side, if kids just want to have command of their lives, I understand," Smith said. The Smith parents are famous for trying to empower their kids to make their own decisions, such as when their daughter Willow wanted to cut her hair.

Jaden, who will appear opposite his father in the upcoming film After Earth, seems to be quite content living at home.

"See, here is the thing that you need to understand -- I'm not going anywhere," the young actor told Ellen. ""The thing that people don't get is everything at this house is free. So I can get anything and everything at his house so I'm going to be there 20, 30 more years."

Wise decisions by both parents and child to let a kid just remain a kid.
