Showtime's hit TV series Dexter is set to premiere its eighth and final season at the end of June, which will undoubtedly mark the end of a very successful run.  Prior to its ultimate close, the cable TV series will also be giving its viewers the opportunity to delve deeper into Dexter's (Michael C. Hall) dark past and its origins.

The Showtime network recently released a synopsis that revealed some pertinent information about Dex's not so confidential secret moving forward.

"The end begins for Dexter in a climactic new season. After meeting the psychiatrist who helped create Harry's code, Dexter must confront his own dark origins.  Only one thing is certain: somebody is going to meet their maker."

Dr. Evelyn Vogel, who is the psychiatrist, will be played by English actress Charlotte Rampling.  Along with Harry (James Remar), the woman is well aware of Dex's serial killer secret, which could serve to put him in another sticky situation.

Carter Matt begs the question of whether Dr. Vogel "will be forced to clam up about it to anyone who asks."

Showtime's Dexter is set to make its return on Sunday, June 30 at 9/8 p.m. Central.  Be sure to keep checking back for more of the latest details on America's favorite serial killer.  The latest trailer put out by the cable network can be watched below.
