Bruno Mars opened the 2016 American Music Awards show this year, taking the show's stage for the first time in his career and owning it as he performed his hit song "24K Magic."

Taking the stage after a quick intro from hosts Jay Pharaoh and Gigi Hadid, Mars kept thingd simple but upbeat with four back-up singers, flashing lights in the background, and of course a great dance breakout moment where a single spotlight highlighted his moves on the stage.

After the breakout, the lights also came back up and his singers and dancers multiplied in number as well to add to the magic as he opened things up and got the audience (which included Lady Gaga, Chrissy Teigen and John Legend and many more hopping out of their seats to dance) pumped and ready to continue their night.

Mars who has one prior win for Favorite Pop/Rock Artist and seven previous nominations. He wasn't nominated this year.
