Selena Gomez made her highly anticipated comeback during last night's 2016 American Music Awards after distancing herself from the spotlight for the last few months.

Although Gomez didn't nab the night's top award, the Artist of the Year award, she was named as the Best Female Pop/Artist during the event and during her acceptance speech, she moved many to tears, including Lady Gaga, who was visibly touched by Gomez's words.

"I had to stop," Gomez said, according to a report by CNN on Monday. "I had everything and I was absolutely broken inside... I kept it all together enough to where I would never let you down but I kept it too much together to where I let myself down."

"If you are broken you do not have to stay broken," she added. "If that's anything whether you respect me or not that's one thing you should know about me. I care about people."

After Gomez spoke at the event, Lady Gaga took to Instagram, where she shared a photo of herself and Gomez, as well as a special message.

"So dope I got to hang with the biggest rockstar of the night. (Ya,know besides Sting and Green Day) ...the girl with the biggest prize of all a BIG Heart that she shares with the world," she wrote, along with a photo of Lady Gaga hugging Gomez.
