President of CBS Nina Tassler clears up the concept for Survivor's 27th season: returning contestants will be playing against their relatives.

Survivor: Caramoan aired its finale on Sunday night, and a preview of the next season is traditionally given in the reunion special.  However, host Jeff Probst only teased the audience with an ominous shot of blood dripping into a glass of water with the new logo, Survivor: Blood vs. Water.

Fans of the show immediately took to Twitter to determine what the season would entail.  To clear up the rumors, CBS President of Entertainment Nina Tassler explained in a conference call with reporters that the new season would be "the return of great characters and their relatives."

The exact details of how tribes will be split up and what the dynamics of the game will be are unknown as of now, though it is confirmed that the series will continue to film in the Philippines.

Probst explained his own excitement to The Hollywood Reporter, saying, "I'm very stoked about what we're doing.  It's another big twist to the game. Risky for sure but that's what makes it so appealing."

A few Survivor spoiler sites have leaked cast lists, such as Reality Blurred and Survivor Sucks, but their validity has been unconfirmed by CBS or producers.

Of the last six seasons, Survivor: Blood vs. Water will be the fifth to feature returning players.  Favorites Rob Mariano and Sunday's winner John Cochran have won on their fourth and second times playing respectively.

Filming on the next season will begin filming over the next couple days, with Probst telling the audience on Sunday that he would be flying out to shoot it the next day.

Survivor will airs its 27th season in its regular Wednesdays at 8:00 p.m. timeslot this fall on CBS.
