The viral video star known as "Kai the Hatchet Wielding Hitchhiker" who became famous for intervening in an attack in Fresno, California in February, now finds himself on the other side of the law, sought after by authorities for the murder of a New Jersey man.

The Union County Prosecutor's Office issued a warrant today for Caleb Lawrence McGillvary, also known as Kai Lawrence, Caleb Kai Lawrence and Kai Nicodemus, in connection with the death of Joseph Galfry Jr.

Galfry was found dead in his Clark, N.J. home on Tuesday; an autopsy ruled that he died from blunt force trauma. McGillvary is being charged with murder, his bail set at $3 million.

McGillvary's whereabouts are currently unknown; officials claimed he was last spotted boarding a train in southern New Jersey's Camden County, but now believe he has fled the state.

On Tuesday, the day law enforcement discovered Galfry's body, McGillvary had posted in an explicit message on his Facebook account that he found himself that morning in a strange house and that he suspected he had been sexually assaulted.

McGillvary's video interview with Fresno's Fox affiliate KMPH showed the hitchhiker describing in graphic -- and rambling -- detail how he stopped used a hatchet to fend off Jett Simmons McBride, the driver he hitched a ride with. McBride hit a utility worker with his truck, assailing him while yelling racial slurs, and attacked two other women coming to the worker's rescue. The video received over 400,000 Youtube hits, and McGillvary was later invited to appear on Jimmy Kimmel's ABC late-night show.
