Pokemon Go finally releases a long awaited update and to everyone's surprise, Ditto is here now! There were not many announcements by Niantic regarding this, people expected them to have a sort of event or grand opening but it just happened.

Now the interesting part is the way Ditto can be found and caught in Pokemon Go.

But before one gets to that it is important to explain what Ditto exactly is. Ditto is simply a pink blob of a fairly shapeless pokemon. It has a very peculiar face and some very amazing properties.

According to The Verge In the Pokemon Anime and the Games, Ditto is able to transform itself into any Pokemon in the game using its ability called "transform". That being said, it brought up quite the interesting approach to this character. In the games two Dittos can be bred to create any Pokemon in the game based on chance.

So why is Ditto like this? Well based on a fan theory, Mew was cloned to make MewTwo. However, Mewtwo was the only successful clone. There are speculations that failed cloning attempts created Ditto.

Mew has the ability to "Transform" making it the only other in the game other than Ditto. Mew also has the DNA of every pokemon in existence. This could be why Ditto can transform itself into any pokemon in the game.

In Pokemon Go however, one has to focus mainly on that idea. One has to constantly catch a large number of pokemon and there will be a very small chance that one of them will turn into a Ditto as shown by Destructoid.

It happens after you catch the pokemon, the Pokeball says "Oh?" and the Pokemon transforms itself back into a Ditto. It is very attractive!
