Christopher Nolan, director in the multi-billion dollar Dark Knight franchise, is reportedly in talks to direct the next 007 movie.

He is in early talks with James Bond producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson to direct the 24th entry into the franchise. If he signs on, Nolan will be very busy over the next few years.

The director is currently in pre-production for his new big-budget sci-fi film Interstellar starring Jessica Chastain, Anne Hathaway and Matthew McConaughey, which is set to premiere in late 2014.  Bond producers, meanwhile, are anticipating a release of the next Bond film for 2015.

Nolan is no stranger to going from one big-budget film to another, directing Inception in between the last two Dark Knight films within six years of each other. It remains to be seen if the director will tackle yet another action franchise.

After the critical and box office success of last year's Skyfall, the Bond franchise is hotter than ever before. The film's director, Sam Mendes, had to decline directing Bond's 24th film due to previous commitments to the National Theatre. He will be involved in theatre productions of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and King Lear. Though the prospect of directing another billion-dollar film is tempting to some, Mendes wasn't interested.

"Was I willing to go straight back into a room with a writer and start work on the same set of characters and the same scenarios as I've been working on for the last three years? No," he said. "The idea made me feel physically ill."

Very few details have been released about the next Bond film, except the fact that Daniel Craig is set to reprise the title character. He signed a deal to play Bond two more times, bringing his Bond-movie total to five. He debuted his portrayal of Bond in 2006's Casino Royale.
