The CW's highly anticipated Sex and the City prequel, The Carrie Diaries, has finally cast the young Carrie Bradshaw to fill Sarah Jessica Parker's teen stilettos. Based on the best-selling book by Candace Bushnell, the show focuses on Carrie during her teen years in New York City.

The coveted role was sought after by many Hollywood starlets, but AnnaSophia Robb came out on top.

Filling Parker's Manolo Blahniks was a "tall order," according to co-executive producer Josh Schwartz, who noted, "There are so many talented young actresses out there."

As teen Carrie, Robb will play a quirky Manhattan high school girl asking her first questions about love, sex, and relationships. Robb has starred in Race to Witch Mountain, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Bridge to Terabithia.

The casting call for the network pilot described Carrie as a "quirky, charming, witty 16-year-old," who unfortunately has "a complete lack of knowledge about love, sex and relationships." In the show, Carrie deals with the recent loss of her mother. And like the adult Carrie whose shoe obsession knew no bounds, her younger version will also have a growing sense of fashion.
