Opening up about domestic violence in her recent PSA, tears started running out of Amber Heard's eyes as she got emotional. It's more than 3 months after her divorce settlement with Johnny Depp, 53, and Heard, 30, seems to have suffered lots of emotional stress during the process.

"How's it happening to me? I am smart and strong. I am not a victim," she said. "There's so much shame associated with the label 'victim' and it happens to lots of women. And, when it happens in private with someone you really love, it is not too straightforward. It'd be a no-brainer if some stranger had done this..."

Tears rose to Heard's eyes when she recalled women's support system that helped her in filing restraining order for domestic violence against Johnny Depp, which she withdrew later, US Magazine reported.

In her video, which she released for marking International Day for Eliminating Domestic Violence against Women, Heard was thankful to her friends and talked about the way she plans to utilize her fame for raising awareness in general public about this issue. "If it weren't for them, what kind of life I might have," she admitted.

According to Hello Magazine, she aroused women to raise their voice and said that their voice is probably the most powerful weapon they have. In her persuasive comments, she asked women to stand shoulder-to-shoulder to fight domestic violence and not to accept silence any longer. She looked convinced that when women will go into this together, the whole landscape could see a drastic change.

The actress filed for divorce from Pirates of the Caribbean star in May and claimed that Depp was both physically and verbally abusive during their 4-year relationship.

It took months of ugly accusations for them to settle their divorce back in August when Depp agreed to pay Heard around $7 million to settle down the issue.
