They announced a split earlier this year which devastated their fans, but there appears to be new hope for fans of One Direction that the band will eventually wind up getting back together!

Niall Horan, who recently released his solo single "This Town," and performed at the American Music Awards, has said that there will eventually be a time where he, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne (Zayn Malik left the band before their extended hiatus), would eventually reunite as a group, though it's unclear when it may happen.

"We will be back. We would be silly not to....ridiculous," he said in a recent interview.

At least for now, he maintains that the guys are all enjoying doing their own individual projects, but fans don't need to worry about their status as a group.

"At the moment we are all doing our own thing," he said. "Harry wanted to do his movie and everyone is just chilling...I don't think anyone needs to worry about us, we are fine."

Since announcing their hiatus in January, Horan has worked on his music, as has Payne, who has reportedly spent most of his time in the studio working on an album. Styles will be in the upcoming Christopher Nolan film Dunkirk, and has also signed a solo recording contract. Louis Tomlinson has appeared to take time off from work completely, and has been living in Los Angeles and taking care of his son, Freddie.

Malik, who left the band in 2015, has gone on to find success in his own solo career, releasing his album earlier this year, which reached number one on the charts.
