It appears the drama they were going through as a result of her being tied up and held at gunpoint in Paris affected Kim Kardashian and Kanye West's marriage more than expected, and the issues it caused may have had a role in the rapper's recent hospitalization for exhaustion.

According to Us Weekly, the couple was fighting before his hospitalization on Nov. 21, and it was all directly tied to Kardashian's Oct. 3 ordeal in Paris, where she was tied up and held at gunpoint while thieves stole $10 million in jewelry from her.

"It's just been hell for them," a source told the magazine.

As Kardashian tried to struggle to feel safe again, West left for his Saint Pablo tour, and Kardashian's fears stemming from her attack caused her to stay behind-which led to tension in the marriage.

"The trauma of the incident made her more hesitant to do things," the source said. "Of course it strained their relationship, because she hadn't seen him."

Meanwhile, West was becoming a workaholic, which was also leading to the pair's fights.

"He would be up all night ranting about things," the source said. "They were fighting because he was impossible to live with."

His wife's situation also left him "paranoid" and "completely freaked out" and he became more distressed because it was near the nine-year anniversary of his mother's death as well.

"The mere thought of his wife being taken from him was too much-it was like his mother's death," the source said. "Seeing Kim close to death did a major number on him. It sent him into a tailspin."

Meanwhile, Kardashian was also disappointed because as she was trying to recover from her ordeal, she expected her husband to be someone she could lean on, but that support never really materialized, and he still expected her to be the stable one.

"She felt like now she needed him to be stable and her rock instead of the other way around." The source said. "Knaye's so used to getting Kim's constant support and coding, but it's always about Kanye."

However, as she now sits by his bedside in the hospital as he recovers from his own situation, sources claim that she thinks it will work to finally start healing their emotional scars, and they can soon move on from all the troubles they've had recently.

"Kanye's behavior took a huge toll on their marriage," the source said. "But Kim feels relieved he is getting the help he needs. She thinks this is what it will take to save him-and help their marriage."
