Lately the 24 - year-old singer, Demetria Devonne "Demi" Lovato had spoken up regarding her mental health. It was in 2011 when she was diagnosed with a bipolar disorder according to the "Skyscraper" singer. During the first phase of her condition, she had not sought any professional help and had chosen self medication instead. Moreover, she chose to fight her battle by herself without letting others know about it.

Lovato had mentioned that during the first period, she felt vulnerable, sad, and withdrawn and that she lacks the courage to get up from her bed which shows signs of the depressive episode. Be Vocal: Speak up for Mental Health, had reported that by the time Demi had decided to seek help. She was admitted in an inpatient treatment facility that had a support team to assists her in exposing her state to her family and friends. By then she was finally diagnosed of Bipolar Depression which made her understand her current condition. The former Disney star had also informed Be Vocal that

"Now I had no choice but to move forward and learn how to live with it."

With this matter, her healthcare team had taught her to distract herself every time she thought of something harmful for her. Lovato had pointed out that with this technique, she was able to stay healthy and get through of her damaging thoughts. Billboard had detailed that, Demi had her most recent interview with People last Wednesday. In the interview, Lovato stated that "It is possible to live well with mental illness" and added that she is a living proof of it. With that, she encourages everyone to speak up and seek for a professional help if somebody is dealing with psychological problem.
