The holiday season is called the most wonderful time of the year for a reason, and it probably has something to do with one of the sweetest times of the year: National Cookie Day! 

The day, which occurs Dec. 4, celebrates all kinds of sweet treats and delicious cookies, means that some of your favorite cookie bakeries and cafes are offering ways for you to partake in the celebration with free and discounted cookies. And nothing says Happy Holidays like getting a free cookie to bite into!

DoubleTree by Hilton: According to Parade Magazine, the hotel chain will be celebrating with a "12 Days of Cookies" celebration starting Dec. 13 and ending on Christmas Eve. With this promotion, both hotel guests and the general public can go to any location to receive a free cookie.  

Hot Box Cookies: From 12-6 p.m. on Dec. 4, get 2 free chocolate chip cookies if you follow them on social media and make a post tagging Hot Box Cookies  

Pei Wei Asian Diner: Get a free cookie with the purchase of any entrée or Kid's Wei Meal Purchase  

Schlotzky's: In store, receive a free small cookie with the purchase of any entrée. Or, tweet @Schlotzkys with a cookie emoji on Dec. 4, and receive a free cookie coupon via the brand's rewards app, Lotz4Me.  

Discounted Cookies: 
 

Great American Cookies: Take advantage of special offers: Buy 5 cookies, get 1 free; Buy 10 cookies, get 3 free; But 15, get 5 free  

Insomnia Cookies: Buy 4 traditional cookies, get 2 free  

Nestle Toll House Café by Chip: No deals for Cookie Day itself, but starting on Dec. 5, they will offer 12 days of deals in all locations, with a different offer each day through the 16th. One cookie deal will be Buy 1 dozen cookies on Dec. 6, Get ½ dozen classic cookies free.  

Whole Foods: Through Dec. 6, Chocolate Chip Cookies are on sale for only $0.25 each.
