She thought for sure that Mariah's (Camryn Grimes) fall would lead to her winning back her job at GC Buzz, but after Devon (Bryton James) remains committed to giving Mariah a shot, Hilary (Mishael Morgan) will make a bold move towards her future that is sure to surprise her husband on The Young and the Restless.

After reaction to Mariah's fall wound up being more positive than expected, Devon confirmed once again that he wasn't going to give Hilary her job back, which will force her to seek out new avenues. And after a conversation with Jack (Peter Bergmann), she will meet with a mystery man at the club to discuss her future.

"I'm just so thrilled that you were able to meet with me on such short notice," she says in a preview clip for the Wednesday, Dec. 14 episode.

As she conducts her meeting, Devon will be working on Mariah and trying to convince her to at least serve as a host of the show in the interim until he finds a permanent replacement, with the promise that she will no longer host any live shows, but as she continues having problems and flashing back to her humiliating fall, Mariah will inform him that she genuinely cannot do the job, and will walk out.

"I can't do this. I can't host the show Devon," she says in the clip.

And as Devon reels from the fact that he has likely lost Mariah for good, Hilary will surface at the studio, and she and Devon will continue to argue over the way she handled things as a host, which went against the message he wanted GC Buzz to promote. However, as he offers a chance to get the job back if she promises to change and do things as he wants them, he will receive a call from the mystery man-who will introduce himself as Hilary's agent and inquire if she has been released from her contract-because she's a hot commodity and he has several offers to take her on.

The Young and the Restless airs Monday-Friday at 12:30 p.m. on CBS.
