Fans have been clamoring to have Michael Muhney return to the role of Adam Newman since it was vacated by Justin Hartley earlier this year, and while he can't promise any returns, the actor is making sure Young and the Restless  fans know he's thankful for their support.

The actor addressed the petition to have him brought back to Y&R on his Twitter account earlier this week, sharing how the support and love made him feel in a series of tweets.

"I just read through all the comments in this petition. Brought tears to my eyes. So blown away by people's passion for my work. #Humbling," he wrote. "Just feel like all I ever want to say is 'thank you.' For being positive, for encouragement, for your passion and enthusiasm for my craft. As long as people are kind, respectful, and positive I am always so spirited with the daily, weekly, monthly, year-after-year support...tens of thousands of tweets I get from people who enjoy my hard work. It really is so meaningful."

"If you were to ever just scroll through my mentions and continue reading back further and further you would see why I feel this way," he continued. "It's a rare thing to capture this much passion and support and encouragement from fans. I feel honored to have found a place in your hearts. Wow. Just...wow. I've been onn a journey for several years. Moved away from the me that fought too many battles and covered up insecurities with ego. I just know that I like myself a lot more now than I did years ago. Had to let go of the hard-headedness. It's a good feeling to let it go."

Muhney left the role in 2014 after a bunch of unproven rumors that he had been fired for allegedly harassing Hunter King, who portrays Summer Newman. She reportedly claimed he had groped her breasts on two separate occasions without consent.

However, fans shouldn't get excited that Muhney will return in the role, as there are no plans to bring the character of Adam Newman back onto the canvas for now.

The Young and the Restless airs Monday-Friday at 12:30 p.m. on CBS.
