Now that the latest standalone anthology film in the Star Wars franchise, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, has been released, fans are starting to get excited about the franchise's next installment. While there isn't yet any official details on what the next film will be, Lucasfilms' president, Kathleen Kennedy, has at least revealed the possible dates of when the first trailer will be out.

The next film in Lucasfilms' repertoire, Star Wars: Episode 8, will continue the main story of the franchise sequel trilogy, which will also see the original stars of The Force Awakens reprise their roles. With the movie now just a year away from premiering, fans are now wondering when its first trailers will be released.

Kennedy didn't really disclose the actual dates of when the first trailer would be released but instead, he revealed a rough estimate. During an interview with BBC, via Comic Book, Kennedy said that the Lucasfilms and Disney would still want to give Rouge One: A Star Wars Story some breathing space before releasing promotions for the next movie in the line-up.

Kennedy then mentioned that they are actually planning to release promotions for the movie sometime in spring. Fans should then be able to get their first glimpse of the characters and the different scenes within the movie during that time.

Meanwhile, Adam Driver, who plays the main antagonist, Kylo Ren, in the upcoming new trilogy's sequel, commented in a recent interview with Cinema Blend. He stated that he actually wants the movie to come out without any prior trailers released.

Driver explained that audiences would actually be more excited about the film if they watched it without knowing anything about it. However, Kennedy's previous statements suggest that this will not be the case.

Star Wars: Episode 8, which is written and directed by Rian Johnson, is scheduled to be released on Dec. 15, 2017.
