The fans of The Vampire Diaries have threatened to boycott the show if their favorite, Nina Dobrev's return is not happening in Season 8.
The Vampire Diaries Season 8 is on air and will reach the halfway mark in a few episodes. But there is still no hint of Nina Dobrev aka Elena returning to the final season of the series with Ian Somerhalder. This has got fans into the rebellion mode.
The fans are threatening to boycott The Vampire Diaries Season 8 if Nina Dobrev does not return to the show. The followers are quite upset over the show not dropping hints about Elena's return. They took to social media to vent out their anger and said that they have no plans to watch TVD if Dobrev is not officially confirmed to return.
As for the actress, she has not confirmed anything but did not deny either. She left everyone guessing with her cryptic reply saying that the question of her return is a very good question. Notably, Nina Dobrev left The Vampire Diaries in 2015 after she revealed that she would not be returning after Season 6.
Season 7 did not see her and she came back only to record a voiceover. However, when it was declared that Season 8 would mark the end of the show, fans began speculating if she would come back, with many harboring high hopes of seeing her with Ian Somerhalder.
In related news, it is being said that Nina Dobrev might be back as Katherine, reports Unreality TV. In the recent episode of TVD, viewers saw Georgie dying in a mysterious way, which is almost the same way as Katherine. Ever since this death scene aired, rumors have been rife that Dobrev would be back as Katherine.
What made the rumors sound real was producer Julie Plec's comments. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Plec said that the visual similarities were not accidental. She also said that the bigger question is how do the characters fit in this world and if there is a chance for redemption or all of them are doomed.
