The latest RX 490 leaks suggest the imminent launch of a powerful Vega card which will likely find itself in a duel with rival Nvidia's GeForce GTX 1080. The specs of the upcoming graphic card made it to the headlines after it was spotted in the listings posted by a retailer. The same leak also indicated that AMD could release in December 2016.

Though RX 490 will bring along the compatibility with VR gaming, meaning it is likely that the graphics card will be a fan-favourite. Also, despite the fact that there is no clear mentioning about Vega or Polaris in the original leaks, Radeon RX 490 will debut as a Vega 10-based card.

While it is already known to many that Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Ti will be the last piece of Nvidia's Pascal architecture before it moves on to Volta architecture. It is still unknown to some that the Pascal GPU will have a 10GB or 10240MB GDDR memory.

According to PCGamesn, a GP102 GPU was spotted in the database entries of a benchmarking site where netizens referred to as the GTX 1080 Ti.

AMD Radeon RX 490, on the other hand will be featuring 16GB units for the top-tier and 8GB units for the low-end one. Because of this, it is presumed that Radeon GPU is more powerful than GeForce because the former has reportedly high computing performance of 24 TeraFlops for half-precision and 12 TeraFlops for single-precision.

A benchmark result from a user called Ceaj has been performed using an unnamed graphics card, codenamed 687F:C1. In the benchmark it pulled in a total score of 8,400 in Ashes of the Singularity's DirectX 12 benchmark, making it the 131st highest score of all time. This puts the RX 490 right in the mix with high-end GTX 1080's. However, the score has since been deleted, suggesting whoever was responsible for the snafu has whipped it off in the hope nobody noticed.

When it comes to hard numbers, the RX 490 benchmark for the standard 1080p value is comparable to that of the GTX 1080. The benchmark score took it to the 131st position on the list before it was deleted, this means the results were probably not supposed to be leaked to the masses, reports MobiPicker.

NVIDIA is known for selling chips at a higher price, for example, the previous ones that usually start at $800. Budget-wise, AMD RX 490 is said to be cheaper compared to the Pascal-based chipsets though there is no information revealed regarding the price of AMD chipset.
