Engaged couple Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth were apart this weekend promoting their new projects, as the actor attended the Cannes Film Festival and Cyrus presented at the 2013 Billboard Music Awards.

The singer, 20, took to the stage on Sunday to announce the release of her new single We Can't Stop on June 3. She called the new tune "perfect" and gushed, "I'm so excited."

Cyrus attended the event in a black and white Balmain jumpsuit that featured a checkerboard motif. She paired the look with bold red lipstick and she also wore her 3.5 carat Neil Lane engagement ring, after being photographed numerous times in the past without it. She commented on the fact that her beau wasn't with her at the event, and told reporters "I'm riding solo tonight."

Cyrus has been focused a lot on her new music and most recently she was spotted leaving Justin Bieber's recording studio, with a source saying they are working on collaborating.

On May 17, Hemsworth, 23, attended a promotional event in Cannes for Hunger Games: Catching Fire, reuniting with costars Jennifer Lawrence and Sam Clafin. He was spotted partying at Belvedere party's VIP Room around 1:20 a.m. the next day with a small group of friends, according to Us Weekly. They sipped beer, smoked some Marlboro Lights and spoke to two female, blonde fans who approached their table. One onlooker said girls were doing anything to get his attention, including throwing ice cubes and other items at him.

He then went to Nikki Beach at Les Marches with a bodyguard and talked with some female fans before leaving alone sometime past 3 a.m., according to the report.

Hunger Games: Catching Fire will be released in theaters on Nov. 22, 2013. The film also stars Elizabeth Banks, Josh Hutcherson, Woody Harrelson, Lenny Kravitz, Stanley Tucci and Donald Sutherland.
