Kanye West: "My role models are artists, merchants. There's less than ten that I can name in history. Truman. Ford. Hughes. Disney. Jobs. West."
 


There are many iconic quotes from Kanye West to choose from, but this one from his VMAs speech in August really took the cake. Explaining his own status in the industry (and the world), his rambling speech included a portion where he compared himself to some of the most significant men in world history. It remains to be seen if West will ever become synonymous with any of these names.

Rihanna: "I don't want to see you texting your boyfriends or your girlfriends. I don't want to see you catching any Pokémons up in this b----."
 


Is there a more fitting quote that acts as a time capsule for 2016? From people being distracted on their phones to the phenomenon of Pokémon Go, Rihanna covered it all one of concerts in July.

Jennifer Aniston: "For the record, I am not pregnant. What I am is fed up."
 


On a more serious note, Jennifer Aniston summed up years of frustration with the tabloids in an interview with Ellen DeGeneres. The actress has been fending of rumors of pregnancy for years - decades, really - and she is now striking back against false reports. Her entire rant against celebrity journalism is excellent, though.

Justin Bieber: "People are always like, 'Why did you get a monkey?' If you could get a monkey, well, you would get a f---ing monkey, too! Monkeys are awesome."
 


While Bieber has continued to be the brunt of jokes on late night talk shows, he did utter the above blunt quip of his own in a GQ interview in February. While the story behind Bieber's 2013 monkey is controversial at best, it's hard to argue against the idea that monkeys are indeed awesome.

Selena Gomez: "I had to stop, 'cause I had everything and I was absolutely broken inside. I kept it all together enough to where I would never let you down, but I kept it too much together to where I let myself down."
 


Selena Gomez opened up like never before in an emotional speech at the American Music Awards in November. The singer appeared prominently in public for the first time in months where she spoke on losing herself in the grind of the music industry, To us, there was no quote more profound from a young star in 2016 than this one.
