The release of new episodes for the highly popular animated television series, Steven Universe, have been quite erratic in the past few months. Avid viewers of the show have been treated to an uncertain future as fears of the show's cancellation began to proliferate. Now, new details have emerged which has revealed that the show will indeed be coming back early next year to end its long hiatus.

According to a report from Gizmodo regarding the animated series, new episodes are now already being planned to be released in January. To make up for lost time, producers of the show will be releasing several short episodes over the course of a week, which some have termed to be a "Stevenbomb."

The show's episodes had previously grinded to a snail's pace as viewers only got to see a couple of episode over the last few months. Steven Universe season 4 episode 8 and 9, titled "Gem Harvest," was released back in Nov. 17. It was then followed by another episode titled "Three Gems and a Baby," released on Dec. 1. The growing gap between episodes had concerned some fans, who were afraid that the show's network, Cartoon Network, may decide to cancel the series altogether.

Fortunately, the network has now released the schedules, via The Geekiary, for the show's new episode. The series will be returning with a two-part episode on Jan. 30, titled "Steven's Dream" and "Adventures in Light Distortion." It will then be followed with three other episode in the following days, namely "Gem Heist" on Jan. 31, "The Zoo" on Feb. 1, and "That Will Be All" on Feb. 2.

The past few episodes have thus far explored much of Steven's back story, specifically his childhood and his human side. The episodes had revealed the importance of Steven's heritage and how his human side was as important as his Gem side.

On the other hand, the next few episodes are expected to continue with the larger Gem plot of Steven Universe, which should begin to drive the story forward once again.
