This year might be quite different as Kate Middleton and Prince William are apparently breaking off from tradition as they will be celebrating their Christmas with the Middleton family instead.

The holidays have always contained a number of strictly followed traditions for the British people, most especially for the royal family. Members of the royal family always celebrate the special holiday at Sandringham, practiced as a annual tradition every year.

Despite the numerous rumors that the decision was likely a sign of favoritism towards Kate's family, a report from Daily Mail seems to claim otherwise. According to the report, the decision to spend their family's Christmas away from the traditional affair at Sandringham, was more likely because of their children.

The couple will be spending their Christmas, along with their 18-month old baby, Princess Charlotte, and 3-year old George, in Kate's family mansion in Bucklebury, Berkshire. They will also be accompanied by Kate's parents, Micheal and Carole, along with Kate's Sister Pippa and her fiancé, James Matthews.

Parenting experts revealed in the report that both Kate and William probably decided to give their children a more informal and relaxed Christmas. The entire decision was likely for the sake of George and Charlotte more than anything else. It was also mentioned by experts that their decision to step back from their royal duties for the sake of their children was "absolutely the right decision."

The event at Sandringham usually involves strict timetables where the children would have to sit down and keep quiet. It was also mentioned that when the time comes that Prince William will be required to perform his duties as King, he might not be able to do this type of deviation from tradition.

According to The Sun, Kate Middleton and Prince William's decision to hold their Christmas away from Sandringham will mark the very first time they spend the holiday away from the rest of the family, including Prince Harry and the Queen.
