Beyonce recently posted photos of her Cuba trip with husband Jay-Z on her Tumblr page, the Daily Mail reported Monday.

The couple took the trip to celebrate their fifth anniversary and in the photos they are seen admiring their surroundings while being driven through Havana.

Beyonce and Jay-Z were criticized for traveling to Cuba as tourists, and were called out for breaking the law regarding Washington’s embargo. Republicans thought that the celebrity couple were given special access to the country because of their connection with the U.S. president.

After the celebrity couple was mobbed near a restaurant in Havana, police were called to try and control the situation and keep the crowds from attacking Beyonce and Jay-Z.

The I Was Here singer said a few weeks ago that although she found the trip to be an "enlightening" experience, she was shocked by the public outburst.

“You know, it was such a beautiful trip. I met some incredible children. I visited some incredible entrepreneurs. And it was really, it was really educational for me. I learned so much about so many people and the country, and it was actually quite shocking,” she said.

According to a Washington embargo, it is illegal for U.S. citizens to visit Cuba as tourists. Although the Obama administration eased some of the restrictions in 2011, tourists still need a special visa, or must be part of an organized tour in order to gain access to the country.
