Google is generally a life-saver for every question we generally have on a daily basis, whether it be a specific question about something, or a general search for information on someone we're interested in learning more about.

Naturally of course, certain celebrities and people will be searched more often than others for a variety of reasons. Here are the 10 people who were searched the most in 2016:

Donald Trump

Not surprisingly, the President-Elect topped search results for 2016, both for the constant scandals that seemed to plague his campaign, as well as his unexpected win, and his somewhat controversial Cabinet picks since his election.

Hillary Clinton

Also not too surprising in an Election Year, the Democratic Nominee for President also was highly searched, beat out by her opponent for the top spot because of interest in him peaking since his election.

Michael Phelps

The most winning Olympic athlete of all time (with 23 gold medals) made headlines again after announcing he was really retiring after the Rio Olympics. He also made headlines because of the birth of his son, Boomer, in May.

Bernie Sanders

Hillary Clinton's Democratic rival for most of the year was oft-searched because of his somewhat anti-establishment approach to politics and fervent support for him among millenials, many whom "felt the Bern" during his campaign for the Presidency

Steven Avery

Netflix's Making A Murderer documentary gripped the nation, and interest in the subject of the documentary, Steven Avery, did as well, landing him the fifth most searched person spot

Ryan Lochte

Following his Lochtegate Scandal in Rio and turn on Dancing With The Stars, Ryan Lochte was searched often during the year

Simone Biles

Another Olympic athlete to be searched often was Simone Biles, who took the world by storm with her impressive performance for the U.S. Women's Gymnastics team in her first appearance in the Olympic games.

Cam Newton

The Panthers QB topped searches after questions about his ability to play surfaced following his suffering several tough blows on the field, as well as a concussion throughout the season

Usain Bolt

Also announcing he would retire after the Rio Olympics, Bolt was searched for his once again dominating all of his events, winning three gold medals for the third Olympics in a row.

Kevin Durant

Durant was searched likely because of his shocking decision to sign with the Golden State Warriors this summer, leaving behind his days playing for the Oklahoma City Thunder
