Any actor that lands the role of the dashing and debonair super spy, James Bond, has always enjoyed worldwide fame following his casting. The current James Bond, Daniel Craig, has already expressed his intention of stepping down his role, which means that it might be about time for a new Bond to grace the silver screens.

Craig's Bond has been considered by some critics as one of the most successful Bonds to date, which means that there is a lot of pressure to find the next actor that will be as successful in the role as Daniel Craig. He has thus far starred in four James Bond movies, namely Casino Royale in 2006, Quantum of Solace in 2008, Skyfall in 2012, and Spectre in 2015.

Producers of the next movie will likely have to follow the same formula that was implemented when Craig was cast, and given the factors, some likely candidates have already been shortlisted. According to a report from Movie News Guide, one of the candidates that is currently in the running to be the next James Bond, is the low-key actor, James Norton.

One of the main elements that made Craig such as hit as the new James Bond was his anonymity, which means that the next actor should not be an already famous one as he should instantly be recognized as the Bond character and not through any previous role. Having Norton as the next Bond will undoubtedly be an unexpected choice, which is exactly what happened when Craig was first casted.

According to the Week, Norton has steadily been rising as the top contender to be the next Bond, closely followed by other previous favourites such as Aidan Turner and Tom Hardy. If Craig will indeed step down from the role, Norton would be the likely candidate to replace him in the next film tentatively titled Bond 25. However, producers are still currently negotiating with Craig to at least do one more Bond film before he retires. Craig's predecessors, Pierce Brosnan and Sir Roger Moore have also expressed the same sentiments, that Craig should at least do one more Bond movie.
