A gospel singer from Brooklyn filed a lawsuit on May 18 against McDonald’s after she allegedly swallowed a piece of glass larger than a penny inside a chicken sandwich three years ago.

According to 52-year-old Jacqueline Simpson, the incident at the lower Manhattan McDonald’s ruined her singing voice.

“Now when I sing, I have a hoarse, rattly voice,” she told the New York Post. “I still sing alto, but I can’t sing soprano like I used to.”

Simpson filed the lawsuit at Brooklyn Supreme Court and said the incident, which occured near the World Trade Center in May 2010, also affected her job as a clerk for the state Attorney General’s Office.

“I have to make a lot of calls for work and I have to tell people that I’m not a man. Before, that never happened,” she said, based on the report.

McDonald’s did not comment but is currently in legal trouble with several other individuals and organizations all over the world. A Brazil organization recently filed a claim stating that the restaurant advertised unhealthy food to children, while a woman claimed her 4-year-old grandchild got second-degree burns after touching a hot cup.

The fast-food chain is no stranger to lawsuits. McDonald’s faced a lawsuit in 1992 when a woman filed a complaint after spilling hot coffee on herself. Last year, a prostitute in Nevada blamed a franchise owner for pushing her into the profession.
