Alien: Covenant has finally got a release trailer, as 20th Century Fox treats its Xenomorph fans to the upcoming release of the new Aliens movie.

It is the second installment in the Alien prequel series and is the successor to Prometheus. It also marks as the sixth overall installment in the Alien series. Ridley Scott returns to direct this movie, and it will be his third film in the series. 

So far, fans have already recieved some details about the plot and cast of the movie. In fact, the plot was briefly teased by one of its own cast members. Katherine Waterston, a star who plays the character of Daniels, revealed some of the plot details during her IGN interview. 

The star revealed that Daniels, her character, was a terraforming expert about the Covenant which is the mothership of the humans. The crew of the ship was sent to colonize a planet fit for living in, on the far side of the galaxy.

The Alien: Covenant trailer does not give much insight about the plot of the movie but fans are getting excited. The trailer promises that the movie will have a fleshed out plot and action sequences. 

Katherine also reveals that her job as Daniels is to make earthly plants and crops grow on a habitable planet. Moreover, there are also couples on the ship who will be expected to procreate and make a human colony. She also reveals that the movie is darker and more scary than the rest of the movies.

The trailer further reveals that the crew of Covenant steps in a planet nothing short of a paradise. In one scene, they can be seen without helmets, which proves that the planet has oxygen and probably a similar gravity to earth.

The crew soon discovers during their stay that the planet ecosystem harbors terrifying elements. And this would mean havoc for the crew and quite possibly, for the entire human race.

As for the cast of Alien: Covenant, the movie would see the return of Michael Fassbender, Noomi Rapace and will also be having newer characters like Waterston, Billy Crudup, Demian Bichir and quite possibly James Franco. The movie is expected to hit theaters on May 19, 2017.
