General Hospital opens with Anna Devane (Finola Hughes), whose mind gets blown by a vague memory. There is the whistle of an eerie snatch of a tune in a remorte, deserted WSB hallway.

It makes her ready to "go all in and be put under." She believes that the melancholic remembrance has some link with Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart). She is sure there are more facts there and they will give her freedom.

However, hypnosis is said to be close to revealing a truth to her that is "so shocking" that Anna doubts whether she is still sane. It is not clear what the devastation was that made her repress her memory bank for so many years.

Anna is trying to figure out what who Valentin is in reality. Although she feels that they do share a common past, she is not able to identify it. Valentin has a way of coming up to her and telling her some well-known Latin riddles or even humming a strange and eerie tune.

One bit of evidence that gives her a hint is a young trainee, who is smiling at the WSB emblem. Her granddaughter Emma (Brooklyn Rae Silzer) took away the picture from Valentin's house.

That incident enraged him, but then he calmed down and informed Nina (Michelle Stafford), his girlfriend, that the image had sentimental value, also indicating that some business was unfinished. He then quietened down, which made Nina complain about his tendency to hint about past incidents, but never go beyond the tantalizations. He said that the image was that of a woman who had rejected him, but it was very personal.

The picture was referred to Anna's friend Andre (Anthony Montgomery), who was also a shrink. Anna and Laura jointly commented about the huge amount of hair spray that was expended in the '80s, and then showed the picture to Andre when he dropped in.

Anna explained that the image indicates something - that Valentin and Anna were at the WSB at the same time. Doesn't that show that both of them are acquainted somehow? However, Andre retorted that Valentin might have obtained it from someone else who was on the spot at the time.

However, Anna refused to believe him, and said that the truth was actually behind the end of the corridor in her partial memory. She begged Andre to put her into hypnosis and help her to unearth the horrific memory that her mind was repressing.

General Hospital spoilers are clear that a hypnotized Anna is sure to recollect a remote affair with a WSB trainer, as well as its scandalous results. Perhaps Valentin is the "long ago love child" that Anna was trying to forget. It would give a hint of why Valentin is angry about her, and why she is filled with dread and familiarity when the two of them run into each other.
