Previous rumors suggest that the upcoming Microsoft Surface Phone 2017 might make its first appearance on Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017. But now some talks stated that the smartphone's release might be postponed. In addition, leaked photos have indicated that the forthcoming device from the Redmond-based company might carry 'Surface Phone' branding.

According to Ecumenical News, there have been a lot of rumors about the Microsoft Surface Phone released. As a matter of fact, there are some who speculated that the upcoming smartphone may debut along with another Microsoft product; the Surface Pro 5. Both devices were predicted to be showcased at the upcoming MWC in February 2017.

However, there are hearsays stating that the Microsoft Surface Phone may not make its first appearance at the MWC. In fact, the tech giant may not release any smartphone at all at the event and may just give support to its partner HP.

In contrary, International Business Times stated that leaked photos in China indicated that the upcoming smartphone from Microsoft will have Surface Phone branding. Weibo, a known leakster, was the first to upload the images of the supposed device. Based on the post the smartphone will have a camera with Carl Zeiss lens. But then, the images could be untruthful as the Carl Zeiss branding is not being used since 2013.

The leaked photos indicated a Lumia-type device that has directed many to believe it's an older prototype. Therefore, the leaked images don't have the ability to affirm that the smartphone shown is essentially the Microsoft Surface Phone 2017 that patrons have been waiting for years.

It can be remembered that leaked images of supposed Surface Phones have leaked online many times in the past. However, the recent leak indicates a device with Surface Phone branding.

Microsoft Corporation has not confirmed any of the leaks and has not exposed any detail about the Surface Phone 2017. However, Microsoft has signed contract with Pegatron as the company's only ODM for manufacturing the Surface Phone.
