With the holidays now over, Blizzard has now concluded the Winter Wonderland holiday event for their highly popular multiplayer first person shooter video game, Overwatch. Blizzard is of course well known for its prompt and constant updates. It means that the end of one event probably means the start of a new one soon after.

As a consolation for players before the next event is revealed, Blizzard has now released the highly awaited Oasis map to the public, as per The Verge. The Oasis map was actually first unveiled alongside the latest playable character, Sombra, during the company's Blizzcon event back in November last year.

While Sombra was released to the general playing public, the Oasis map was confined to the Overwatch Public Test Region (PTR) servers. It means that not all players will be able to access it during matches.

The map itself is for the Control gametype and features a futuristic landscape of a city built in the middle of the desert. The arena is complete with sprawling building, palm trees and open areas.

One unique addition, however, is that players will not only be contending with oncoming projectiles from their opponents in the map. But they will also have to contend with the city's vehicle traffic.

The new map for Overwatch is of course just the beginning for Blizzard's support for the game into 2017 and players should expect more content to be added to the game in the coming months. A report from Polygon even hints that players should be looking forward to new characters, modes and other great functionality to be added to the game throughout the year.

The Oasis map for Overwatch is currently available on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 consoles. The map has also been transferred to the primary servers for the PC version of the game.
