Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder were the faces that gave The Vampire Diaries the huge fandom the show enjoys but after Dobrev left the show, fans started losing interest.

However, when it was announced that The Vampire Diaries Season 8 would be the last in the series, everyone was hoping Dobrev would come back. Sadly, the chances are very dim.

Her commitments and tight schedule do not seem to allow Nina Dobrev to make one last appearance in The Vampire Diaries Season 8. Not only this, the Bulgarian actress does not even seem to be interested in reprising the role of Elena. In one of her interviews, she said that she had decided years before that she would go the run of her contract and would not extend it, claims Interview Magazine.

However, it came out as a surprise for everyone else that did not know that. According to her, she always knew that she had signed up for a certain amount of time and she fulfilled it. Calling it a great experience, she said that everything has to come to an end and this was her time. However, this is not what all would believe as recently Dobrev was accused of shading The Vampire Diaries cast.

When she shared the poster of her upcoming movie XXX: Return of Xander Cage on Instagram and gave it the caption that this is a team she can work with, many thought it was an indirect comment at the TVD cast. Some also defended her but it appears as though Dobrev has decided to move into films.

Dobrev is returning to Indie film industry with The Final Girls and also has Arrivals in her kitty. She revealed that she is at a stage right now where she has been on a show (TVD) that was very successful. However, she wants to work with filmmakers and do films. She said that she wants to do things where the talent range is difficult and that scare her. This is because she thrives on it and if it is not scaring then it means she is not growing.

Well, Nina Dobrev seems quite sure of doing movies and her silence about returning to The Vampire Diaries Season 8 does feel like she has made up her mind not to come back.
