2015's Marvel movie, Ant Man, had experienced some relative success in the box office, which is probably why Marvel and Walt Disney Studios are intent on producing its highly awaited sequel. To the delight of fans of the original movie, both companies have confirmed that the sequel to Ant Man will indeed be happening.

The upcoming sequel, which has previously been referred to as Ant Man 2, has been given the official title of Ant-Man and the Wasp. According to a report from Cinemablend, the movie is now being slated to be released on July 6, 2018. Marvel also reportedly had to move a lot of their planned Phase 3 movie releases for the sequel to be included in their set timeline.

The July 2018 slot was supposed to be for the upcoming Black Panther solo movie, which is shifted to Feb. 16, 2018 instead. The solo movie will now be out ahead of the planned The Avengers: Infinity War movie, which does make sense as viewers will get now get the chance to know more about Chadwick Boseman's character before they get to see him battling alongside the Avengers in the next movie.

As for the upcoming Ant-Man and the Wasp movie, there is currently no details yet about the sequel's plot. One thing is quite obvious, however, that fans will definitely be seeing the Wasp in the upcoming movie. Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly as still expected to reprise their roles in the upcoming sequel as Scott Lang and Hope Van Dyne, respectively. The original Wasp was originally Janet Van Dyne, Hope's mother in the movie. She was portrayed by Hayley Lovitt in the original movie, so it might be possible that she would be returning in a more prominent role this time around.

The sequel's first trailer is expected to be out really soon, which means fans should be able to find out more about the movie's plot and who exactly the shrinking superhero and his equally powerful insect-like partner will be facing.
