Remember when Paris Hilton started a singing career?

The socialite released a reggae-infused first single Stars Are Blind back in 2006 and also shot a music video where she rolled around on a beach in Malibu. Her debut album, titled Paris, didn't manage to go platinum or gold, but Hilton is giving her music career another shot. This time, she plans to do things a little differently.

The 32-year-old has reportedly signed with Cash Money Records, according to MTV.

Hilton will be joining rappers Lil Wayne, Drake and Nicki Minaj, who are all a part of Cash Money Records. The record label is owned by brothers Birdman and Slim, and Hilton even made a cameo in Birdman's video for Tapout, released in early May. In the video, Hilton and Christina Milian, play two waitresses carrying out a robbery scheme. The song featured other members of the Cash Money crew, including Minaj, Lil Wayne and Mack Maine.

Last year, Hilton also appeared on a house track with Lil Wayne titled Last Night.

Her follow-up to Stars Are Blind is planned for a summer 2013 release, she told Showbiz 411 in an interview. Just because she's part of a hip-hop label, however, doesn't mean the star will adopt that sound.

"This is a lot different than my first album," she said. "It's really going to be house music."

Dutch DJ Afrojack, the man behind Pitbull's 2012 hit Give Me Everything, will be one of the album's producers.

Cash Money reps have yet to confirm the deal. They said in a statement, "When a deal is finalized we will make an official announcement."

Maybe Birdman's tweet on Wednesday is confirmation. On Wednesday he wrote on Twitter, "Welcome @ParisHilton to tha Family. RichgangRichgirl.YMCMB."
