The season 9 finale of ABC's Grey's Anatomy aired earlier this month and viewers saw Cristina Yang and Owen Hunt face another stumbling block in their relationship.

As Cristina realizes that Owen wants a child and she doesn't, she decides to end their relationship and allow Owen to have what he deserves even at the expense of her losing him. After fighting their way back into each other's arms this season, Cristina is shown in final scenes walking away from Owen and ending their relationship.

However, the show's executive producer, Shonda Rhimes, said the breakup may not be so definitive.

"She did walk away and he didn't walk after her, which I thought was very interesting," Rhimes told reporters at a Scandal TV Academy event. "I love that last shot where he's like, 'This isn't over,' which is what he was saying but he was not following her and Owen is always sort of following her."

The question remains of the characters still have feelings for one another. Rhimes answered the question by saying, "Do they still love each other? Absolutely. Is that love ever going to die? I don't know."

Plotlines are season 10 are still being discussed, according to the producer. Writers are "still struggling with" knowing what to do with the doctors of Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital and they are "still searching through" various ideas. She only commented on what has been talked over so far, promising it will be "really interesting."

Rhimes reassured Grey's Anatomy fans of one absolute thing - she will not give Cristina a child.

"I know a lot of fans just want us to end everything by giving Cristina a baby [as if that's] going to make everyone happy, which infuriates me as a woman," Rhimes admitted. "I adamantly stand by Cristina's ability and desire to not have a baby and to be happy about that. There's something great about this struggle and what's going to make her happy and see where they go next."
