Apple users who are excited on what the Cupertino-based company will be offering this year are understandable. The excitement itself is mainly due to the fact that 2017 will officially mark the 10th anniversary of the Apple iPhone smartphone. The hype for the new iPhone has also now been greatly increased thanks to new rumors of what looks to be another line of iPhones called the iPhone X.

The mysterious new iPhone X has been the subject of numerous reports, which all have varying claims on what the device could be. A report from iTech Post speculates that the new device could be a new series of iPhone specifically sanctioned to commemorate the iPhone's achievement.

The argument is backed by claims that the "X" in the name of the alleged new product could indicate the number 10. The simplistic approach to the device's name is of course right up Apple's alley as it does coincide with their minimalistic philosophy.

On the other hand, another report from Daze Info claims that the company may be abandoning the iPhone 8 moniker and instead jump directly into the iPhone X name. The move could be construed as a way for the company to differentiate itself from its competitors. None of the claims have any compelling evidence to back them up, but it would be interesting to see what Apple may actually do in the coming months.

As for iPhone X's rumored specs, the device is speculated to sport a 5.8-inch screen that is wrapped around the entire front side of the device. The home button, fingerprint scanner, front camera, microphone and earpiece are reportedly going to be embedded in the display itself.

There are also talks of a possible integration of a facial and gesture recognition system similar to that featured on other Android flagship smartphones. Given the fact that the company will need to release something spectacular in order to properly celebrate their product's achievement, it wouldn't be far-fetched to assume that the rumors could turn out to be true.
