With the proliferation of TV revivals happening on a seemingly monthly basis, is there any hope for a Lost revival or reboot?

Lost co-creator and executive producer Damon Lindelof spoke with Entertainment Weekly recently about the idea of a Lost reboot or revival series. And by the sound of it, we won't be seeing the return of Jack (Matthew Fox), Kate (Evangeline Lilly) or Sawyer (Josh Holloway) anytime soon, if ever.

"Those characters not only died, but we showed you their experience post-death," Lindelof noted. "Any new take on 'Lost' will probably have to feature new characters, as it should. ... As it relates to 'Lost', which was so heavily serialized, I do think it's somewhat of a betrayal to go back in and say there's more story to tell that I just came up with now, especially when we had ample time to end it on our own terms."

However, Lindelof appears to be open to other writers taking on the Lost universe.

"[Executive producer] Carlton [Cuse] and I always said that we welcome any future crack at the [intellectual property]," he said. "'Lost' was bigger than us and bigger than [co-creator] J.J. [Abrams]. There's something really exciting about the fact that George Lucas sold the 'Star Wars' universe and now the people who grew up watching it are making it. Maybe the same thing could be said for 'Lost'."

The Lost series finale was divisive when it aired in 2010. Some fans thought it didn't answer enough questions the show had posed over the years, while others believed the character-focused conclusion is what the show was all about.

Regardless, the series won many awards over the course of its six season, including the Emmy for Best Drama Series in season 1 and individual acting wins for Michael Emerson (who played Ben Linus) and Terry O'Quinn (John Locke). The cast also won the Screen Actors Guild Award for Best TV Drama Ensemble.
