NCIS: Los Angeles will be entering its fifth season, and though the fourth season's finale only just aired on May 14, preparations are already well in order for the fall.

LL Cool J, who plays Sam Hanna, stopped by CBS daytime show The Talk on May 16 to hint at a little of what's up next.

"I can tell you that next year a lot of people are going to be really shocked by what happens with the characters," he said. When asked whether that would be good or bad, LL told the hostesses vaguely "I guess it's according to who your favorite character is."

But the rapper and actor said he was honored to play on the program because of the jobs the characters have.

"[It make it really exciting," he said, "because we get to play real-life heroes. The real-life heroes are the people that are home, the men and women that are risking their lives everyday to do what we do."

On the internet, fans have already been clamoring for updates about the new season. Matt Webb Mitovich addressed a fan question on TVLine.com about whether fans will ever get to meet Jack, the former fiancé of Kensi Blye (Daniela Ruah). Show runner Shane Brennan gave the journalist a "yes," but not necessarily the explicit one fans might be looking for.

"I answered you pretty quickly," Brennan told Mitovich with a smile, "so perhaps it's something we are already thinking about."

He did, however, make a sly suggestion as to what Jack might look like.

"Kensi likes Deeks, so maybe he's a Deeks lookalike, another 'shaggy dog'?" he said.

Michael Ausiello of TVLine.com also talked to actor Barrett Foa for his  Ask Ausiello column about what's going on with Foa's character, tech operator/surfer Eric Beale and Nell (Renée Felice Smith). He said that their relationship is going to get a bit of time to shine, and it's been long overdue.

"We're actually [about to] shoot one episode [for Season 5] that's apparently an Eric-Nell episode," Foa said.

"We haven't really checked in with them after the big Christmas under the mistletoe [incident] - there hasn't been a ton of stuff with the two of us - and I think it's time to get that back, because I figure fans are really ready for that."
