Ice-T is making an unexpected collaboration.

The rapper is teaming up with rock musician Ted Nugent for a new documentary regarding gun rights, as reported by Fox News on Thursday, May 23. The film, Assaulted: Civil Rights Under Fire, will discuss the controversial debate regarding the Second Amendment. It looks at new gun control laws, including New York's SAFE act and Maryland's Assaults Weapon Ban of 2013.

The film's executive producer Kris Koenig spoke with Fox about the movie. "Assaulted turns the gun debate debate around," he told them. "It is a civil rights issue, and we take a look at the history of the Second Amendment. It's a right that has been abused over the years and one that gets overlooked the most."

Ice-T has been very vocal about the issue of gun control and even made headlines in 2012 when he defended gun rights after the massive shooting in Aurora, Colo., which left 12 dead and 58 injured.

"It's legal in the United States," the rapper  told British reporter Krishnan Guru-Murthy in an interview for Channel 4 the same day the shootings which occured in July. "The right to bear arms is because that's the last form of defense against tyranny. Not to hunt. It's to protect yourself from the police."

The rapper also said there was no connection between guns and the Aurora killings, which occurred during the premiere of the film The Dark Knight Rises.

"If somebody wants to kill people, they don't need a gun to do it," he said.

This will be the second documentary the rapper is a part of. In 2012, he released Something from Nothing: The Art of Rap, a film that focuses on the skill that goes into making rap music. Famous rappers, including Eminem and Common, are featured in it.

Assaulted: Civil Rights Under Fire will be narrated by Ice-T and will feature commentary from Nugent, who is a Second Amendment activist. It is set for release in select theaters on June 20.
