Their divorce was a quick one that seemed painless in terms of working out their agreement, but it doesn't mean that it was easy for Miranda Lambert to see her marriage to Blake Shelton end in 2015 after four years.

In a show in Chicago last week, Lambert discussed the song "Ugly Lights" from her post-divorce album The Weight of These Wings, admitting the inspiration for it came from her adjusting to being divorced.

"I got divorced so I started drinking a little extra," she told the crowd before singing the song. "I found myself in Midtown in Nashville three nights in a row at like last call and with the lights coming on, and I'd be sitting there. So I wrote a song about it."

Lambert has been mostly quiet about the divorce, as has Shelton, though both have alluded to it in their post-breakup albums, and Shelton has even potentially hinted that the marriage ended in a similar way to his new girlfriend Gwen Stefani's with Gavin Rossdale, which has been revealed to have ended because he cheated on his wife.

She previously admitted on Instagram that anything she had to say about the divorce was in the album, hence why she hadn't, and wouldn't talk about it in interviews.

Ironically, Lambert's confession about her drinking habits after the divorce isn't the first time there has been discussion of alcohol use following her and Shelton splitting up. A few months after their divorce, In Touch ran a false story saying Shelton had hit "rock bottom" after the split and had gotten so out of control with his own drinking that he was headed to rehab. Shelton initially shrugged off all reports about his partying with sarcastic tweets making fun of the rumors, but after the story, sued the tabloid for defamation.
