Tony Dovolani may be back on the dance floor when the new season of Dancing With the Stars begins.

Dovolani competed in every season of Dancing With the Stars since season 2 but took a break for the first time this past fall for season 23. The pro dancer appeared on Home & Family with his season 7 partner Susan Lucci this week and revealed why he took that break.

"It was time to take a little bit of a break. My sister actually went through breast cancer. She beat it," Dovolani said. "She went through a couple weeks of chemo and six weeks of radiation, so it was a long one. Unfortunately, my aunt was not so lucky. So I had a few misfortunes happen in our family. But we are at the other side of it, which I'm really happy."

So will Dovolani be back as early as the upcoming season 24? It sounds like he is interested in returning, at the very least.

"I miss 'Dancing', of course I love the show," Dovolani said, "and of course I might do another season."

Dovolani has had his ups and downs with his various celebrity partners on Dancing With the Stars. He came in third place in season 2 with Stacy Kiebler and season 8 with Melissa Rycroft, and later won the all star season with Rycroft. His most recent seasons have been less successful, often paired with older celebs without much knack for dancing, including Marla Maples, Suzanne Somers, Betsey Johnson and Wynonna Judd.

Dancing With the Stars season 24 premieres Monday, March 20 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC. The cast is not expected to be announced until a few weeks before the premiere, though rumors always persist.
