The Spears family is dealing with an upsetting tragedy concerning one of its younger members, after Maddie, Jamie Lynn Spears' 8-year-old daughter was critically injured in an ATV Accident over the weekend.

The 8-year-old, who is also Britney Spears' niece, was reportedly airlifted to a hospital after the accident occurred in Kentwood, Louisiana, the family's hometown. TMZ reports that she was on a Polaris off-road vehicle as part of a hunting expedition when it flipped over. She was under water for several minutes and unconscious.

Her mother was reportedly not with her at the time.

Her grandfather, Jamie Spears, spoke to Entertainment Tonight after the accident occurred, asking for fans to please pray for her and wish her a speedy recovery.

"All I can say is pray for our baby Maddie," he said.

However, a rep for Britney also spoke to ET, saying some of the details being reported are incorrect, but did not explain which ones, asking that the family be given privacy as they awaited news on her condition.

"The details the media are reporting surrounding the incident regarding Jamie Lynn's daughter Maddie are incorrect. Right now the Spears family asks that everyone respect their privacy during the time and appreciates all the prayers and support for their family," the statement read.

Jamie Lynn made headlines back in 2007 when she announced she was pregnant with Maddie. She was only 16 at the time and was starring on the Nickelodeon show Zoey 101. Two weeks after she announced that she and then-boyfriend Casey Aldridge were expecting a child together, Nickelodeon announced they had canceled the show.

Spears later became engaged to Aldridge, though the two never married. She married Jamie Watson in 2014.

Currently, there haven't been any more updates on Maddie's condition.
