EA Sports has been absent from the basketball scene for a long time but it will not remain so for long. It is now planning to end the hiatus and though "NBA Live 17" would not be releasing soon, it is scheduled to be out in the open soon.

EA Sports plans to release "NBA Live 17" during the next NBA season and the release date has been moved ahead to coincide with the beginning of the 2017-2018 NBA season. So, fans should expect the game to launch by October and though it is surprising, it will be launched closely to NBA 2K 18 game, reports iDigital Times. The latter is releasing in September this year.

This information came out at the EA Sports conference call and it did not reveal any new details about "NBA Live 17" game. However, it appears that the developer is planning to come out with something big.

According to industry analyst Daniel Ahmad, EA said during the conference call that the next "NBA Live 17" is really good. This sounds convincing as well because the series has given a miss to two NBA seasons.

In related news, EA CEO Andrew Wilson has revealed that the delay was induced to double down on the game and give Live a full NBA season to sell games and not just achieve sales worth a couple of months., claims PastaPadre. Well, it is said that receiving a full NBA season to sell games makes sense but it did not help the last installment, "NBA Live 17."

"NBA Live 16" managed to sell only 8,000 copies in its first week as compared to over a million copies NBA 2K16 did. Though there were some factors responsible for the divide in sales figures, it did highlight one significant issue that EA Sports has not been able to recover from. It is that sports gamers do not trust EA sports and do not want a basketball game from the developer. NBA 2K is proving to be a stiff competition as it is releasing basketball games consistently every year and now that the release of "NBA Live 17" has been delayed, it poses one more issue. EA Sports would be losing out on the opportunity to make a great first impression the second time.
