Netflix recently dropped its new original television series "Santa Clarita Diet." Drew Barrymore is evidently backed with a vengeance of making everyone smile and laugh to this gory but fun horror-comedy show.

"Santa Clarita Diet" will give a different twist to zombie television series with its hilarious comedy and unconventional humor. The show is about a family from the Santa Clarita, California; the mother Sheila (Drew Barrymore), the father Joel (Timothy Olyphant) and their only daughter Abby (Live Hewson).

"Santa Clarita Diet" can be compared to the "Desperate Housewives" for featuring a typical suburban family, Daily Nebraskan reported. It is, too, reminded some of the crime drama "Dexter" that has been made into a comedy series.

In "Santa Clarita Diet," the Hammond family has interfering and uneasy neighbors and a nerdy family friend named Eric (Skyler Gisondo). Everything is pretty normal for them except for Sheila who has a taste for human flesh. The role of Drew Barrymore went through a transformation that made her a zombie. From here the comical mystery starts as they find their way to sustain her needs.

Meanwhile, at the early panel of the "Santa Clarita Diet" stars with Drew Barrymore, Timothy Olyphant along with its showrunner Victor Fresco, the three discussed the storyline of the show. "You can put as much blood as you want on Drew Barrymore and she's still adorable," Olyphant described "The Wedding Singer" star.

Timothy Olyphant also added that "Santa Clarita Diet" is not the viewers' typical zombie series that has a balance of "Little Shop of Horrors" goriness with added classic suburban family sitcom. He, too, planned to increase "life and death stakes you don't see a lot of in comedy," according to Deadline. He also revealed that the undead theme "Santa Clarita Diet" has is a "good metaphor for narcissism."
