If fans remember, last episode of "Quantico" Season 2 i.e. "Zrtorch" saw Ryan, Dayana and Leon making a difficult choice. They realized that they could not let the hostages die and therefore, they escaped from the other terrorists and joined Alex's group. They also freed Nimah from the secret room and together all of them planned a risky plot to rescue the hostages. Nevertheless, they did not have an exact idea about the number of people that they had to free, which led to a big confusion.

This worked in favor of the terrorists who got rid of their outfits and tried to mix in with the crowd. Alex then decided to save everyone first and sort out things later but her decision may haunt her later.
