"The Batman" finally found a director to take the prestigious position after Bruce Wayne star himself relinquished the supposed throne. This is none other than Matt Reeves, a man who is no stranger to the sci-fi genre.

As it was announced a few weeks ago by Affleck that he intends to turn over the position of director to someone else, attempting to make good use of his focus in acting for "The Batman." Sources have now confirmed that the job was offered to Reeves earlier in the week.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, many talks happened in terms of picking out who the director of "The Batman" will be. The position was viable to the likes of "Alien: Covenant" director Ridley Scott and "Don't Breathe" director Fede Alvarez-both exposed to the more suspense side of movies. Fans of the Dark Knight's version in the new universe which started with "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" need not to worry, as Affleck is still sure to reprise his role in the coming standalone film, which he co-wrote.

There is also a certain concern that the script of "The Batman" may go through a few changes respectively. Moreover, as per Variety, the production of the film may be moved further due to the busy year that Affleck had back in 2016. His films include the aforesaid super hero clash, as well as the enigmatic "The Accountant" and the latest, "Live By Night." It is expected that shooting is still slated for 2017's end.

Reeves has quite the cinematic credential list prior to "The Batman." He is the genius behind "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes," as well as the found-footage alien flick "Cloverfield," and is currently the mind behind "War for the Planet of the Apes." The DC film is expected to launch within 2018.
