The highly popular Japanese manga series, "Rurouni Kenshin" or more popularly known as "Samurai X" in the west, is now finally getting its first ever mobile video game. Bandai Namco just recently announced that "Samurai X" Free-to-Play mobile video game will be released sometime this year.

According to an announcement from the company, via Siliconera, the brand new game will essentially be a free to play action title that will have some micro-transactions integrated into it. The "Samurai X" Free-to-Play mobile video game itself is scheduled to be released this year in Japan.

The company has yet to officially reveal the actual release date for the new game, but it has created an official website for it. Interested players can now even pre-register on the website in order to get more updates regarding the upcoming new title. The untitled "Samurai X" Free-to-Play mobile video game will be released for both Android and iOS operating systems. Bandai Namco has however not yet revealed any other details regarding the game and it is not yet clear which characters and what timeline within the franchise will be featured.

The "Samurai X" manga series was originally released back in 1994. It was then followed by an anime television series in 1996, which was a roaring success in its home country and abroad. The franchise has since then expanded into different mediums, including live action films, light novels, video games, and merchandising.

The "Samurai X" brand has never been released as a mobile game, which means that the upcoming one may become the first of many new mobile games based on the franchise. There has, however, been a few console games based on the franchise that have been released. This includes "Rurouni Kenshin: Meiji Kenkaku Romantan: Ishin Gekitōhen" and "Rurouni Kenshin: Meiji Kenkaku Romantan: Jūyūshi Inbō Hen" for the PlayStation, another game for the PlayStation 2, and two other titles released for the PlayStation Portable.
